Elle nous donne son point de vue sur les effets que peuvent avoir le yoga et la m\u00e9ditation chez les personnes ecz\u00e9mateuses.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Comment le yoga et la m\u00e9ditation peuvent-ils aider les personnes ecz\u00e9mateuses?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u00ab\u00a0Je crois que le yoga et la m\u00e9ditation peuvent tous deux avoir une incidence positive sur l&rsquo;ecz\u00e9ma.\u00a0Les deux disciplines ont montr\u00e9 leur capacit\u00e9 \u00e0 am\u00e9liorer le sommeil, \u00e0 diminuer les d\u00e9mangeaisons et \u00e0 att\u00e9nuer le stress et l&rsquo;anxi\u00e9t\u00e9 associ\u00e9s \u00e0 l&rsquo;ecz\u00e9ma. Avec le temps, ces am\u00e9liorations sur la qualit\u00e9 de vie pourraient aider \u00e0 r\u00e9duire la gravit\u00e9 de l&rsquo;ecz\u00e9ma. Quand ils commencent \u00e0 pratiquer le yoga ou la m\u00e9ditation, le premier effet que mes patients constatent est l&rsquo;am\u00e9lioration de leur qualit\u00e9 de vie.\u00a0\u00bb<\/p>\n<p><strong>Dispose-t-on de donn\u00e9es scientifiques sur le sujet?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u00ab\u00a0Certains faits scientifiques justifient le r\u00f4le positif du yoga et de la m\u00e9ditation.\u00a0Tout d&rsquo;abord, au niveau \u00e9l\u00e9mentaire, les fibres nerveuses sont situ\u00e9es en grande partie profond\u00e9ment dans la peau, mais celles responsables des d\u00e9mangeaisons sont superficielles et se trouvent \u00e0 la surface de la peau. Chez les patients ecz\u00e9mateux, le grattage constant sur une longue p\u00e9riode peut endommager les fibres nerveuses. Ces nerfs endommag\u00e9s deviennent hypersensibles et peuvent envoyer des messages de d\u00e9mangeaison \u00e0 la colonne vert\u00e9brale et au cerveau, alors qu&rsquo;ils ne le devraient pas.\u00a0La personne y r\u00e9pond en se grattant la peau, ce qui transmet d&rsquo;autres signaux de d\u00e9mangeaison et d\u00e9clenche le cycle.<\/p>\n<p>Nous savons aussi que la m\u00e9ditation aide l&rsquo;unit\u00e9 centrale de traitement de l&rsquo;information du cerveau. Des \u00e9tudes men\u00e9es par r\u00e9sonance magn\u00e9tique ont montr\u00e9 que la m\u00e9ditation et la respiration consciente peuvent d\u00e9sactiver la r\u00e9gion du cerveau qui est hyperstimul\u00e9e en pr\u00e9sence de d\u00e9mangeaisons et de grattage. Donc, bien que le r\u00f4le de la m\u00e9ditation n&rsquo;ait pas \u00e9t\u00e9 \u00e9tudi\u00e9 pr\u00e9cis\u00e9ment en lien avec l&rsquo;ecz\u00e9ma, nous croyons que cette discipline, et le yoga, pourraient aider les patients qui \u00e9prouvent des d\u00e9mangeaisons engendr\u00e9es par l&rsquo;ecz\u00e9ma. La bonne nouvelle, c&rsquo;est qu&rsquo;il y a tr\u00e8s peu de risques \u00e0 int\u00e9grer le yoga et la m\u00e9ditation \u00e0 notre routine de soins de l&rsquo;ecz\u00e9ma. On croit qu&rsquo;au fil du temps, la m\u00e9ditation peut aider \u00e0 recalibrer le cerveau. La pratique r\u00e9guli\u00e8re du yoga et de la m\u00e9ditation a montr\u00e9 sa capacit\u00e9 \u00e0 diminuer les marqueurs de l&rsquo;inflammation dans l&rsquo;organisme, comme le cortisol et les interleukines (qui sont impliqu\u00e9s dans les pouss\u00e9es d&rsquo;ecz\u00e9ma).\u00a0\u00bb<\/p>\n<p><strong>Par o\u00f9 commencer?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u00ab\u00a0Les s\u00e9ances communautaires de m\u00e9ditation et de yoga peuvent \u00eatre une bonne fa\u00e7on de commencer. Elles sont souvent offertes par des instructeurs form\u00e9s, et rassemblent souvent plusieurs personnes qui pratiquent la discipline et peuvent offrir leur soutien. Le fait de s&rsquo;inscrire \u00e0 un cours est une forme d&rsquo;engagement qui nous pousse \u00e0 y aller et \u00e0 participer.<\/p>\n<p>Toutefois, certains patients ne sont pas \u00e0 l&rsquo;aise avec la formule de groupe. Il est alors possible de suivre un programme en ligne ou d&rsquo;utiliser une application.\u00a0Ces m\u00e9thodes peuvent \u00eatre un peu plus difficiles \u00e0 utiliser au d\u00e9but \u00e9tant donn\u00e9 qu&rsquo;il n&rsquo;y a personne pour nous orienter; il pourrait alors \u00eatre plus difficile de pers\u00e9v\u00e9rer.\u00a0\u00bb<\/p>\n<p><strong>Avez-vous un conseil \u00e0 donner aux patients qui d\u00e9cident d&rsquo;entreprendre cette d\u00e9marche?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u00ab\u00a0Les patients croient parfois qu&rsquo;ils ne pratiquent pas le yoga ou la m\u00e9diation correctement, alors qu&rsquo;il n&rsquo;y a pas de mauvaise fa\u00e7on de le faire! Tout le monde doit commencer quelque part, et toute forme de yoga ou de m\u00e9diation est mieux que rien du tout. Un autre bienfait du yoga est qu&rsquo;il s&rsquo;agit d&rsquo;un exercice doux, qui fait tr\u00e8s peu transpirer. On sait que la transpiration peut d\u00e9clencher une pouss\u00e9e d&rsquo;ecz\u00e9ma chez de nombreux patients. Je mettrais toutefois en garde contre le yoga chaud, qui n&rsquo;est pas recommand\u00e9 pour les personnes ecz\u00e9mateuses! La chaleur et la transpiration associ\u00e9es \u00e0 cette forme de yoga peuvent d\u00e9clencher des pouss\u00e9es d&rsquo;ecz\u00e9ma ou les aggraver.<\/p>\n<p>Les patients peuvent rechercher des classes de yoga ou de m\u00e9diation dans leur r\u00e9gion \u00e0 l&rsquo;aide de Google.\u00a0Ils peuvent aussi rechercher m\u00e9ditation compassionnelle\u00a0ou m\u00e9ditation de la bienveillance et apprendre comment entreprendre leur d\u00e9marche.\u00a0Ils existent des applications comme \u201cHeadspace\u201d et \u201cCalm\u201d (en anglais) qui ont rendu cette discipline populaire et accessible.\u00a0\u00bb<\/p>\n<p>La D<sup>re<\/sup> Mamta Jhaveri est une dermatologue agr\u00e9\u00e9e \u00e0 la Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Elle se sp\u00e9cialise dans le soin de la dermatite atopique, de la dermatite de contact et de l&rsquo;urticaire chronique.
