ESC is proud to share that Dr. Yuka Asai, MD, PhD, FRCPC, has published her findings from her Patient Eczema Education Pictorial Study, which was awarded an Eczema Society of Canada Research Grant in 2022. In this study, Dr. Asai created a pictorial patient education tool using the analogy of fire when managing eczema.

Dr. Asai’s study assessed whether this pictorial patient education resource would improve outcomes for patients, including improved severity of eczema and improved quality of life. The good news is that the tool did indeed help patients.

Patient education is recognized as an important part of eczema management, and this study demonstrated that a picture-based educational tool can improve eczema.
