“A Day with Eczema” receives Canadian Dermatology Association (CDA) Award
Campaign sheds light on burden of condition and its impact on daily life
ESC is delighted to share that their awareness campaign “A Day with Eczema” received the 2020 Canadian Dermatology Association (CDA) Public Education Award.
The CDA Public Education Award is awarded for excellence in furthering the understanding of dermatologic issues and encouraging healthy behaviour in the medical, surgical and cosmetic care of skin, hair and nails.
Launched during Eczema Awareness Month, ESC’s campaign aimed to demonstrate the true burden of the condition and how it can impact every facet of daily life. Throughout the month of November 2019, ESC invited Canadians to share what it is like to live “A Day with Eczema” on social media, as told in our video titled “A Day with Eczema” which gave an intimate look into the life of a chronic eczema sufferer. We also engaged our online community of more than 15,000 followers to share their stories using the hashtag #ADaywithEczema (the AD signifying atopic dermatitis).
The campaign was featured in a sponsored article on globalnews.ca and a 30 second branded radio spot that aired more than 80 times on Toronto radio station AM640, and Executive Director Amanda Cresswell-Melville was interviewed by CBC Radio.
Since its launch, the campaign has garnered more than 12 million impressions nation-wide.
