Supporting remote and rural health care professionals to better care for eczema patients
We know that eczema is a complex and challenging condition for health care professionals to treat and for patients and caregivers to manage daily. These care and management challenges are compounded for patients living in remote and rural communities across the country, who face additional challenges accessing health care appointments and treatments. In these regions, nursing stations often act as the main health care providers because the closest specialists could be several hours away. Even when patients do get to see a doctor, the doctor might not have the right tools or training.
Eczema Society of Canada (ESC) is dedicated to improving eczema care for Canadians from coast to coast, and these improvements are desperately needed in rural and remote communities. In addition to supporting outreach and education programs for rural and indigenous communities in British Columbia and Ontario, ESC is a proud exhibitor at the Society of Rural Physicians of Canada’s Rural and Remote Medical Conference.
